What it takes to be an Australian Hockey Player!

hi guys,

yeah it would be pretty awesome to play hockey for Australia!

But it doesn't come easy!

Training is a requirement! The team trains 3-4 times a week, with a game on the weekend. Training sessions are generally 1-2 hours in long, the intensity of the sessions reduce closser to the weekend, due to competitions! Some trainings include; Cross training sessions such as resistance training, flexibility, speed and endurance.
Hockey is not a professional sport, that means that most of these players also have a full time job! Being this busy, sometimes you forget to do things, such as eating! Though it is very important for an elite athlete to eat proper nutritional food!

Most of this might sound pretty bad, though to have the privilage to represent your country, to walk out onto the field with the great green and gold uniform, reminds you of how special this really is!

If you want to know more here is a great website : http://www.ausport.gov.au/ais/nutrition/factsheets/sports/hockey
